Gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly attacked the convoy of the Emir of Birnin Gwari, Zubairu Jibril Maigwari along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.
The ugly incident occurred on Wednesday, March 17, when the monarch it was gathered, was on his way to Birnin Gwari in Kaduna for an official assignment. The bandits who had laid ambush on the Emir, was said opened fire on the convoy aiming to stop the convoy.
One of the vehicles was badly damaged as a result of the attack. However, one of the drivers told Newsmen that the Emir was not in the vehicle that was targeted and badly damaged.
The Emir’s driver, Umar Jibril has confirmed to Newsmen that the bandits had appeared in front of their moving vehicles with guns and threw tree branches on the road in an attempt to force them to stop.
He said: “We did not stop. They targeted me, since I was driving but as Allah will have it, the bullet missed my head.”
Fortunately no one was killed as a result of the attack. The Driver confirmed that apart from minor injuries sustained from shattered glasses, no one was injured.
