It is absolutely okay to have dreams regardless of how young or old you are. However, you become a dreamer whose dreams can never be fulfilled when you keep dreaming without acting.
In fact, you would be wallowing in your dreams while people with similar dreams are taking action. I believe you wouldn’t want that to happen to you, so why not take action by taking that first step.
Just begin
Most times, we begin to map out plans and strategies on how to execute our dreams. Often times, when we take too much time trying to figure out the best method, discouragement may set it. So just begin. Do something, do anything!
It was Henry David Thoreau, the American naturalist, essayist, poet and philosopher who said “Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it”.
When you begin working towards your dreams, endeavour to continue. Do not stop, especially when you are yet to see result.

Many people usually stop along the way. They forget that it is not magic but hard work with consistency. Start researching, traveling, volunteering, writing, calling, interviewing, working out, or whatever opportunity you can find to get you moving forward.
Embrace Failure
I heard a story about a man who killed himself and his family when he started experiencing challenges for the first time. He was trained to have and live a good life but was not taught that failure can come and so was not able to handle it. For many people failure is difficult to face. This is probably because of the mindset they hold. Failure cannot define you and it is not a sign that your dreams would not be achieved, in fact, it is part of the process. Embrace failure when it comes and build yourself through it.
Surround yourself with positive people
For you to be a realist and be a successful one at that, you have to be mindful of the people you relate with. The relationship you build will either help you to achieve your dreams or make you continue dreaming. In order to achieve your dreams, do well to surround yourself with positive people. Dine and wine with goal getters.
Many relationships may end while on this journey, the people who are not supportive, who are negative and use you, need to go.
Those who believe in you will stay and help you achieve your dreams.
Carefully layout your plans
If you really want to stop dreaming and start doing, then you have to lay out your plans. Your plans could be daily, weekly or monthly. Make a list of what you want to do and then put them to action.
If you have a dream of becoming a lawyer, you can begin by researching to know more about the profession, find out the right school to apply to and possibly get a mentor who is thriving in that field. This also applies to businesses, careers and other endeavours of life.
Examine your progress
Examine and reflect on your progress to see how far you have gone. Map out other strategies on how further you should go. Think of what to add or remove from your plans.
Build solid relationship network
You cannot achieve your goals or dreams alone. You need others to help you do that.
Create opportunities because most times they won’t come to you. Chris Grosser, Senior Sales Consultant, says “Opportunities don’t happen. You create them”.
No man is an island. It is very true that a man cannot walk alone. You need to relate with people who understand your dreams and would be ready to help you achieve them. Put away your shame, go out there, mingle with people. Attend seminars, go for training, read books, go for events even when you are not invited. In such places, you meet successful people who had dreams like you. Their stories would motivate you to work harder. You also need to showcase your talent. The social media has created platforms where we can tell and show the world what we can do. What are you waiting for? You had better get started!
