The 21-year-old University of Lagos undergraduate, Chidinma Ojukwu, who was arrested for the murder of SuperTV boss Michael Usifo Ataga, has said that she stabbed him to death following a disagreement over another round of sex.
Chidimma Adaora Ojukwu, a 300-level Mass Communications student, was arrested by the Ikeja Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu at the command headquarters nine days after Utaga was murdered in cold blood at an apartment in Lekki, Phase 1, Lagos.
According to Odumosu, Chidimma was arrested at her parent’s residence in Yaba on Wednesday, June 23, following a critical investigation that was carried out after Ataga was reported missing by his family only for his body to be found in the apartment with series of stabbed wounds.
According to Chidinma:
“We were having fun, drinking, smoking and taking drugs and we were there for days”
After the indulgences, Ataga demanded for sex, which I reluctantly obliged. The following day, he wanted another round of sex, and I turned him down, but Ataga kept coming at me, even getting violent. We fought, and at a point, “he was choking me while I was on the kitchen cabinet and then I stretched out to the knife and stabbed his neck twice. When I stabbed him I threw the knife on the bed. Then he went for it while I went for it as well. I lay on the bed, that’s when he came on me to hold the knife and I managed to stab him in the stomach.”
The Ikeja police command said investigation was ongoing to arrest other accomplices, and that the case will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.
