The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo has expressed his pleasure over his appointment as the Chairman of Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers.
Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had on Tuesday approved the appointment of the Deji of Akure, His Royal Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi as the Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas.
Oba Aladelusi’s appointment follows the expiration of the two-year single tenure of the immediate past Chairman of the council, Oba (Dr.) Fredrick Eniolorunda Obateru Akinruntan, Olugbo of Ugbo, who was appointed on the 13th September, 2019.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deji and paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom, Adeyeye Micheal, Oba Aladetoyinbo said he receives the appointment with utmost joy and all sense of humility.
According to the statement, “I appreciate our amiable and dynamic Governor, Mr. Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the appointment most importantly at a time when there should be more synergy and collaboration with the government and the traditional institutions in the area of security and overall development of the state.
“As the new Chairman of the Council of Obas, Oba Aladetoyinbo shall be fully committed to reinvigorating the traditional institutions towards making it more responsive to the yearnings of our people, who are eagerly looking forward to the traditional rulers to practically proffer solutions to the amalgams of challenges facing our dear Nation and State.”
The statement added that, “His Majesty looks forward to a more united, virile and strong council under his leadership.”
The tenure of the new Chairman starts on Tuesday, 14th September, 2021 with expiration in the next two-year.
Meanwhile, the leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council have congratulated its Royal Patrons and Deji of Akure Kingdom, Imperial Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi on his appointment as the Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
In a Press Statement signed by the NUJ Chairman, Adetona Aderoboye and the state Secretary, Leke Adegbite, the Union described Oba Aladetoyinbo as a Peace loving, Progressive and Media friendly foremost monarch who deserves to lead the state traditional institution.
“Ondo NUJ observes with delight the decision of Governor Akeredolu to appoint a vibrant and energetic Royal father to head the Council of Obas at this critical time when the traditional institution is needed to rally support for government in tackling security challenges facing the nation.
“Journalists’ Union equally notes with appreciation to Almighty God that the reign of Oba Aladetoyinbo in the last six years has brought unprecedented peaceful co-existence and rapid development to Akure as the state capital”
