Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has yet again thrown another jab at his political counterpart, former Governor of Akwa Ibom and current minister of Niger Delta Affairs , Godswill Akpabio.
Gov. Wike while speaking at the commissioning of the Rivers State Trade Union Congress (TUC) secretariat in the state came hard on Akpabio, at an event broadcasted live on AIT and monitored by Nigerdeltaconnect.com
The governor in a reaction to the recent call by a militant group to governors of the oil producing states to account for the 13% derivation given to them every month accused Akpabio of attempting to indict governors under the disguise of a militant group.
According to him:
It is unfortunate, I read what former governor of Akwa Ibom State, said, and I have told him to talk less, now is he is taking on the south-south governors, we will tell him that when he was governor, he was actually a king, there was money, as at that time what was the exchange rate? #150 to a dollar, today we almost have #500 to a dollar, and he has the temerity to say ask south-south governors what they are doing with their 13% derivation. Akpabio should not talk to Rivers State at all, he has no such authority , he doesn’t qualify to talk to Rivers State, if he wants to talk, he should go to Akwa Ibom State, we will teach him a lesson here,
Akpabio should know enough is enough, Rivers Sate is not Akwa Ibom, if he wants to talk, he should focus in Akwa Ibom, but if he wants to talk, I will teach him a lesson.
I am not a sycophant, I am not an inconsistent person, and I don’t give a damn.
If he does it again, he will regret meeting Rivers State, I am not one of those governors he can call around, I am not that kind of person he doesn’t even have what it takes to call me around.
People should say what they practice, I will show you a video where Akpabio said the president should come and learn from me what I am doing here, I will show you a video, people forget , you just come out and talk anyhow.
Wike who openly accused Akpabio of inducing a group to castigate the efforts of governor in the south-south, lambasted the Minister’s act of fixing a date for the commissioning of the new Headquarter complex of the Niger Delta Commission situated in the state without considering the schedule of governors in the zone.
You challenge governors, you start sponsoring so called militants, that we should render account of 55 trillion naira, if we got 55 trillion, then he got 200 trillion naira, so you cannot insult people , you go and put to commission a project, you cannot ask the governors weather it is suitable for them, and then you go and begin to criticize that oh they boycotted, boycotted what?
The very outspoken governor berated Akpabio’s failed promise to collaborate with him in executing an east-west by-pass road in Rivers State.
You promised me that you are going to partner with me in the construction of that east-west eastern by-pass, now we have built it and you are enjoying it , Akpabio be careful, Akpabio be careful.
So don’t begin to pay money to pay people to talk propaganda against governors, you will suffer for it, at the end of the day, you will.
Wike who threw what looked like an accusation on Akpabio said he knew what the Minister was doing when he was governor.
We knew when Akpabio was governor what he was doing, he saw himself as god then, now he has the temerity to insult south-south governor.
We will meet one day, if he did well why he fail senate election, if your people so much love you, which did you fail senate election, ordinary senate.
This is coming after the official commissioning of the of the Headquarter complex of the Niger Delta Commission in Rivers State, an event that had all south-south governors absent, having only the governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma out of all nine states in the Niger Delta in attendance.
