The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said he will only support the possible presidential bid of his political godfather, former president, Goodluck Jonathan if he accepts to fly the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Although Wike has concealed his decision on a possible presidential bid come 2023.
Wike, who was a Minister of Education under the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration, has voiced his disapproval of any speculative intention of Goodluck Jonathan to run for President under the banner of the All Progressives Congress.
He stated this while speaking to BBC Pidgin at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
I am a PDP member, if former President Goodluck Jonathan picks a ticket to run in my party, I will support him. I can’t do anti-party. But if he picks a ticket to run in APC, I won’t support him because I can’t do anti-party.
He knows I won’t support him in APC even if he is from the south. I don’t do that kind of politics. It is the party we are talking about and I don’t play ethnicity.
Amidst speculations that Wike may be interested in grabbing the PDP’s flag come 2023, the Governor has kept his intentions under “lock and key”.
