Wife of the Ondo State governor and aspirant for Imo East Senatorial District, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has called on the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disregard any primary election results purported to have emanated from Imo State.

Addressing newsmen at the gate of the APC secretariat in Owerri on Saturday, May 28, Akeredolu insisted that no senatorial primary elections were conducted by the party in the state.
Akeredolu said, “I am calling on the national executive of APC to disregard whatever result of senatorial election that may emerge from Imo State because there was no election.
She accused the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma of preventing senatorial primary elections from holding in the state.

“The governor chose to prevent primary elections in the state from holding, which is unacceptable in a democracy and in 2022.
“I therefore call on the National executive of the party to reject purported primary election in Imo State.
“The governor could do anything with the state assembly. But he cannot do same with the National Assembly primary elections. I insist that there will be voting. Consensus is not in my diary”, she submitted.
There are three major aspirants slated for the Imo East Senatorial District primary poll on the platform of the APC.
They are Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, Prince Alex Mbata and Chief Jerry Chukwueke.
