The Dan Nwafor-led executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has insisted that its tenure was still running contrary to report that it had since elapsed.

The executive offered the clarification in a statement dated May 28 and signed by Michael Anyanwu, Acting Publicity Secretary.
According to Anyanwu, the Dan Nwafor-led executive was enthroned on July 31, 2018 for a four-year tenure by the former National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
While noting that its legal tenure was still running and has not expired as being purported by those he described as mischief-makers and enemies of the party, Anyanwu called on members and supporters of the party to disregard the falsehood.
He said; “Our attention has been drawn to the information making the rounds that the tenure of the State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State under the competent and productive leadership of our Hon Daniel Nwafor has since elapsed.

“Ordinarily we would have ignored such calumnious falsehood obviously being peddled by mischief makers and enemies of our great party who are comfortable to see injustice destroy party in the state, but for members of our party and our teeming supporters who need to be properly informed, we decided to make this clarification.
“The tenure allowed by law for us to be in office is 4 years and our Chairman, Honourable Daniel Nwafor with his executives won his election on July 23, 2018 and was duly inaugurated on July 31, 2018 by the former National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. Hence, our Legal tenure is subsisting and has not elapsed.
“We therefore urge members and supporters of our party in Imo State and the general public to disregard the falsehood that our tenure had since ended.
“We still remain the duly elected, properly constituted and legally recognized executive and leadership of the party in Imo State and this stance has been reaffirmed by various courts of competent jurisdictions in Nigeria including the Supreme Court”.
