The Obodo Amaimo Autonomous Community, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State has ordered the arrest of consumers and dealers on the newest hard drug called Mkpurumiri.
The traditional ruler of the community, HRH Eze Victor Achionye gave the order on Monday.
Eze Achionye directed the President General of the community, Placid Ugoji to ensure the order was carried out to the letter.
Our correspondent gathered that the decision was taken during a meeting of the Eze-in-Council at the palace of the traditional ruler.
The council members observed that the rate at which the youths were consuming the dreaded hard drug now, saying that if nothing was done to check the menace, their lives and future would be ruined.
The council directed the President General to fish out any one involved in the business of selling and consuming the dreaded hard drug or involved in any criminal act in the community.
It further directed that such a person or persons should be handed over to the security agencies and his property in the community destroyed.
The council promised to give the President General all the necessary assistance in handling the enormous assignment.
The council also directed all landlords in the community to submit the names and occupations of tenants living in their houses to the office of the President General within one month to enable the community have a census of the people living in the community and their professions.
The council members who attended the meeting included the traditional prime minister of the community, Chief Christian Akujobi and Chief Chris Akaraonye, the special adviser to the traditional ruler and chairman, Imo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
