Imo State Government has denied withdrawing the luxury mass transit buses meant for the transportation of junior civil servants in the state.
- Gov. Hope Uzodinma
There were speculations that the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma had, through a circular, ordered the withdrawal of the buses.
Unconfirmed reports had it that the rising insecurity in the state and non-payment of the supplier of the buses as well as the complaint of workers kicking against the deduction of N3,000 each from their monthly salaries, were the factors responsible for the withdrawal of the buses by the government.
But the state Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba told our correspondent that there is no iota of truth in the report, claiming that the buses had been withdrawn.
According to the commissioner, the buses were procured by the government to ease the transportation difficulties the workers were experiencing to-and-fro work.
He said the buses have helped the administration to achieve its aim of ensuring workers arrived at their work places in good condition and frame of mind and return to their homes at close of work without having to jump from one public vehicle to another.
