The Imo State Government has suspended, Okehi Ejike, the Bursar of the state College of Education, Ihitte-Uboma.
The State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Bernard Ikegwuoha conveyed the suspension via a letter dated April 26, 2021 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs E.A. Ogudoro.
The commissioner directed that Ejike proceeds on suspension for supplying the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with information that led to the arrest and detention of the Acting Provost of the college, Dr. Bon Asiegbu.
Our correspondent gathered that the commissioner had queried Ejike over a petition to the anti-graft agency which culminated in Asiegbu’s arrest and detention.
It was learnt that the commissioner was not satisfied with Ejike’s claim of innocence and directed he hands over to the second most senior Officer of the institution.
The Acting Provost was arrested and detained by the EFCC for not rendering proper account of N10 million released last year to the college by the state government.
It was learnt that the money was meant to aid the college mount professional diploma courses in education.
