Traditional rulers in Imo State have condemned last weekend’s attack on the country home of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Rising from a meeting in Owerri on Tuesday, April 27, the traditional rulers urged security agencies to investigate the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators and sponsors of the heinous crime to book.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting, the Chairman, Imo State Traditional Institution and Community Policing, Eze Emmanuel Okeke, said the monarchs agreed with the governor that the attack was politically-motivated.
Eze Okeke however called on all aggrieved politicians in the state to sheathe their swords and leave the governor and his team to work for the development of the state.
He threatened that the royal fathers might invoke the wrath of the gods of the land to lay curses on the aggrieved politicians, if they remained recalcitrant.
He said: “Otherwise, we will invoke the wrath of the gods of our land and lay curses on them. Our governor is God-sent to Imo State and any attack on him is an attack on Ndieze and the entire Imolites”.
The chairman called on the youths not to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians to carry out such a dastardly act again.
He stated that the monarchs will continue to support and stand with “our unstoppable, unbreakable and unshakeable governor, especially in this challenging time”.
