Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Paul Emeziem has lauded state governor, Hope Uzodimma for wresting Imo North Senate seat from the hands of those he termed political marauders in the zone.
Emeziem spoke when the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Marcellinus Nlemigbo formally presented Senator Frank Ibezim to Uzodinma in Owerri.
Senator Ibezim, who represents the zone was inaugurated in April after a rancorous poll and long-drawn battle that traversed many courts before being finally determined by the Supreme Court.
Emeziem insisted that the political marauders be kept at arm’s length to enable the zone catch up in terms of development.
Earlier, Nlemigbo told Governor Uzodinma that the process that led to Ibezim emerging senator was almost a war.
He said: “We fought to be here, we fought to get Frank Ibezim be a senator.”
He prayed God to reward all who contributed in making Ibezim a senator.
Responding, Governor Hope Uzodinma admonished the senator to be a good ambassador of Imo State.
The governor told the senator not to think it would be easy because of the high expectations of the people.
In his remarks, Senator Ibezim thanked Governor Uzodinma, the deputy governor, Placid Njoku, the State Chairman of APC, Nlemigbo, the Okigwe people and all APC faithful for making his dream come true.
Senator Ibezim reiterated that he will forever remain grateful to Governor Uzodimma and informed that he has brokered a robust relationship with other senators in his task.
He assured that soon his contributions and efforts towards bringing development to Okigwe in particular and Imo State in general will start yielding fruits.
