The Imo State Police Command has assured citizens of the state of adequate security during the the Muslim festival of Eidel Kabeer slated for July 20 and 21.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP, Abutu Yaro gave the assurance in a statement dated July 19 and signed by spokesman of the command, Michael Abatam.
Yaro disclosed that the command has mobilised adequate policemen for deployment to provide security before, during and after sallah celebrations.
The CP said policemen would be deployed to all prayer grounds in the state.
The cops, he said, would undertake intelligence guided patrols, constant surveillance and visibility policing to ensure a hitch-free sallah celebration.
While wishing all Muslim faithful in the state a happy and successful Eidel Kabeer celebrations, Yaro enjoined the citizens to be security conscious and provide credible information to enable the police serve them better.
The statement reads; “In view of the forthcoming Eidel kabeer Sallah celebration slated for 20th and 21st July, 2021, the Imo State Police Command wish to inform Imolites that the command has mobilized adequate policemen for deployment to provide the desired security before, during and after the sallah celebrations.
“The command is using this medium to reassure the general public of its commitment to protect lives and property of the citizens irrespective of time, venue and circumstances.
“The deployment will cover all praying grounds across the state, intelligence guided patrols, constant surveillance and visibility policing to ensure a hitch free Sallah celebration.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State command, CP Abutu Yaro, fdc, on behalf of his management team and the entire personnel of Imo State Police command, wishes all Muslim faithful in the state a happy and successful Eid El-kabeer celebrations .
“He enjoin all and sundry to be security conscious and provide credible information to enable the police serve them better.”
