The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Rivers State says the Voter’s cards for fresh registrants who registered between June and December 2021 in Rivers State are ready for pick up in the INEC offices in the LGAs from today Wednesday, April 26, 2022.
In a statement from the commission said the Cards are to be collected personally by the owners, with no account should anyone’s card be collected by proxy from 9am to 3pm.
The Independent Electoral Commission, Rivers state had said the commission will commenced ward to ward continuous voter registration in all the 23 local government area from the 8th of March 2022.
The Resident Electoral commissioner, Obo Effanga made this known in a press briefing at the head office in Port Harcourt, noting that over 173, 000 people have registered since the commencement of the CVR last year.
Our correspondent reports that Effanga urged political parties to sensitize electorates to register in the poling units created or those close to the unit can also relocate for easy access.
On the electoral transmission of result, the Rivers State INEC boss described it has step that will ease the process of election in the country.
Similarly, Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo had earlier expressed delight that every vote in Nigeria must count now because of the signing of the Electoral Act.
Banigo expressed this during a workshop organized by the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Rivers State Branch, in Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor said the votes must count because the votes would be transmitted electronically.
“Let us not blame ourselves for bad leadership again, we have the opportunity now, while they are registering to go and get your voters card if you do not have, if you have misplaced yours INEC has the technology to put it right”.
