As part of efforts to popularise judo as a sport, the Lagos State Judo Association (LSJA) is organising a one-day seminar for women. The seminar is expected to serve as an enlightenment programme, particularly against the backdrop of the present insecurity in the country.
Chairman of the Lagos State Judo Association (LSJA), Sheriff Hammed said the primary purpose of the seminar is targetted at promoting self-defence among females in the state, due to the escalating cases of rape, robbery, kidnappings, and general violence against our women, reports the Vanguard.
According to Hammed:
“The state Judo Association is partnering with the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) Lagos State Chapter to raise awareness of rape in our society in order to promote self-defence amongst the youth by massively and constantly engaging them in judo activities.
“We believe that this training program/seminar will go a long way in protecting our loved ones and creating an effective solution against the security challenges eating deep into our society”.
The program is scheduled to hold on Thursday, April 29 at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Rowe Park, Yaba. Apart from the self-defence skills to be acquired by participants, the event is targeted at unearthing talents for the state in judo and also provide room for youths to participate in gainful activities.
