Katsina State Government has accused some of its security personnel of assisting bandits and other criminal elements to carry out deadly activities in the state.
This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Katsina State Government (SSG), Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, when he hosted the Commander, 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen Emmanuel Eric Emekah in his office.
Alhaji Mustapha stated that there are some security agents in the state who work as informants to terrorists and bandits, adding that some of them usually divulge information while others assist in terms of giving out facilities such as weapons.
He directed the leadership of the security agencies to fish out such persons within the ranks and treat them as criminals.
The SSG assured Brig-Gen Emmanuel Eric Emekah, that the Katsina State government will always support him as he goes about his job.
He said, “One thing I want to assure you is that the state government is committed to giving you all the necessary cooperation.
“This, I assure you, we will continue to partner with you and our doors are always open to discuss issues that will bring lasting solutions.”
In his response, Brig. Gen Emmanuel Eric Emekah said, “I assure you that I will do my best and all ongoing operations, will continue to sustain the momentum considering the limited resources and the Army headquarters is doing its best to meet with some of our needs.
“I want to assure you that we will do our best despite the security situation in the country.
“We are here to support the state and most of the directives will be coming from the state and that is why I deemed it necessary to come and interact with you today and to also take direction on what we need to do to sustain the ongoing operation and to improve on it.”
