The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has debunked rumours of his alleged defection plans to the All Progressives Party (APC), stating that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) still remains his party.
Rumours of Governor Ikpeazu’s alleged defection became rife, especially with the wave of defection from Governors of the South East and South South Zones, the recent being the defection of Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi and his Cross River State counterpart, Ben Ayade, cross carpeting from the PDP to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.
Speaking at Government Lodge Aba, during a media briefing to mark his six years in office, Ikpeazu restated his strong membership of the PDP, discrediting the rumours in all its entirety and reassured that he would remain in the PDP.
He noted that he has not lost touch with Abians, who voted him into power, adding that the decision of the people would prevail, whether or not he ditched the party.

Ikpeazu said: “I have not found any reason to leave PDP. This is because I am in constant touch with the people. What should determine what I do is what the people ask me to do and they have not asked me to leave the Party”
The governor said he is in PDP and would remain in PDP.
