Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was on Wednesday conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Public Administration ( Honoris Causa) by the Gregory University Uturu, Abia State.
Jonathan was conferred with the degree at the special convocation ceremony of the private institution for post graduate students.
The former president also attended the foundation laying ceremony of Gregory Teaching Hospital, Ezinnachi.
The ex-President thanked the management of the school for the honour and lauded their efforts in building great minds for the future of Nigeria.
He said: “Its a delight to visit Gregory University Uturu, Abia State today for this special convocation ceremony. I congratulate those who graduated today and thank the Chancellor and the Senate of the University for conferring on me a Doctorate Degree in Public Administration ( Honoris Causa). May Gregory University continue to produce great minds that will advance the future of our country”.
The Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor Augustine Uwakwe appreciated Jonathan for attending the event and for accepting the conferment of the degree on him.
He said the university is committed to producing some of the best graduates that can be found anywhere in the world because of their well tailored academic and non-academic programmes.
The former president was accompanied to the event by the Bayelsa State commissioner for Education, Hon. Gentle Emelah and Hon. Tonye Isenah, the member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma constituency 1.
