Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva have congratulated Muslims in the country on the successful completion of their fast.
In separate messages, the two Bayelsa leaders expressed optimism that the one month Ramadan fast will not be in vain, as their prayers and supplications for a peaceful Nigeria will come to pass.
Jonathan enjoined them to continue to show love, tolerance and honesty, even as they live peacefully with people of other religions for the betterment of the country.
“I congratulate the Muslim Ummah on the completion of this year’s Ramadan. I urge you to continue to exhibit love, honesty, sacrifice and faith towards your neighbours and brothers and sisters across our country.
“The events in our nation demand that we work in unity and love irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliations. This way, we will restore hope and build peace in our homes and nation. Baraka Da Sallah”.
On his part, Sylva said
“I felicitate with our Muslim brothers and sisters on this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
“It has been a spirited month of fasting, charity and sacrifice. I am most interested in the sacrifice this season represents and the great lengths you went to pray for our nation, our communities, our families and our neighbours.
“I wish you all a happy Eid celebrations and may the Almighty God usher us into greater planes of glory, peace and prosperity. Happy Eid Mubarak, Nigeria”.
Also, a member of the House of Representatives, Israel Sunny-Goli hailed the perseverance of Muslims in the course of the Ramadan fast, leading to the Eid-El-Fitri celebration.
The lawmaker who represents Brass-Nembe Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, admonished them to keep upholding the virtues of Islam as prescribed by the Holy prophet of Islam.
Sunny-Goli emphasised the need for mutual respect, peace and harmony in their day to day living, saying, it is fundamental, so as to overcome the current challenges of insecurity.
He commended Muslims in his constituency for the peaceful manner, they have been conducting themselves thus far, asking them to keep it up.
“I felicitate with you today, my Muslim brothers and sisters, as you mark the Eid-El-Fitri celebration. One of the virtues of Islam is peace, we must continue to uphold this virtue, as it is critical in our developmental drive as a people.
“I commend your peaceful disposition over the years, it is indeed praiseworthy. I implore you to keep it up, as we are partners in progress.
“Our nation is beset with Insecurity, thankfully, we have enjoyed relative peace in Brass-Nembe Federal Constituency and by extension, Bayelsa state, we must be united against the forces of evil bent on crippling our nation, by maintaining the peace in our domain”
