The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame demands to a see fair trial for Paul Rusesabagina, who played a role in Rwandan genocide Hollywood movie in 2004 as the hero.
According to Rusesabigina, he was abducted illegally last year in Dubai and flown to Rwanda and recently, he said he is not expecting to receive justice, so he will not appear in court again.
But President Paul Kagame disclosed that there is nothing wrong in the way the veteran actor was arrested
“What’s wrong in tricking a criminal you are looking for?” he posed
Rusesabigina was alleged of violence charges related to 2018 and 2019 attack in Rwanda by the FLN, the armed wing of the Rwandan Movement for Democratic Change, MRCD, a coalition of opposition parties, which he is the vice-president
His lawyers have denied the charges against him.
Speaking in an interview with France 24 on Monday, President Kagame warned against “racist” attitudes towards Rwanda’s judicial system.
“I want to see a fair trial myself. Why do you think being fair belongs to Europe or US or to anybody – not to us?
“It’s like the only thing to be fair in Rwanda or in Africa, it has to be supervised by Europe or US or some other place. No. Absolutely no,” he said.
He also said there’s was nothing wrong in how Mr Rusesabagina was arrested.
“What’s wrong in tricking a criminal you are looking for?” he posed.
