Kidnappers Of NDDC Official Demand N10m Ransom

The unknown gunmen who kidnapped an official of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Kingsley Okoroafor have demanded a ransom of N10million from his relatives.

Our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers placed a call across to the younger brother of the victim, who is said to be Head of Engineering at the NDDC.

Kingsley Okoroafor, who returned to his hometown from his base in Port Harcourt Rivers State was kidnapped at the early hours of Saturday, July 16 close to his country home in Umudara, Umulogho Autonomous Community in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.

It was further learnt that he was returning to his country home from the Christian wake keep of the late traditional ruler of Ndiuhu Autonomous Community, Eze Innocent Anyanwu held Friday night when the gunmen waylaid and whisked him away.

Our source further disclosed that the NDDC official was trailed from the vigil venue to his community.

The source equally disclosed that Okoroafor was with his kinsman, Uche Ohakpor at the time of his kidnap, adding that the kidnappers didn’t touch the kinsman but only snatched his phones ostensibly to stop him from alerting security agencies.

The a source added that his kidnappers did not take his car.

The spokesman of the state Police Command, CSP Michael Abattam is yet to respond to enquiries made on the incident.

There has been upsurge in criminal activities in Imo State.

Recall that Elizabeth, the wife of the suspended General Manager of the Imo Zoological Garden and Wildlife Park, Nekede, Francis Abioye on Sunday, July 10.

She was abducted at First Baptist Church, Owerri when the evening service of the church was in full swing.

A father of four was shot dead on Friday, July 15 at a burial ceremony in Atta, Ikeduru in the presence of his wife and children.

His killers fled afterwards. Policemen led by the Iho division DPO visited the scene immediately after the incident.
