The member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chike John Okafor has announced the award of scholarship to Chimezie Divine Emeka, a Medicine and Surgery student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.
Okafor announced the award of scholarship when he undertook an unscheduled inspection tour of his constituency projects in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.
Okigwe South Federal Constituency comprises Obowo, Ehime Mbano and Ihitte-Uboma council areas of Imo State.
The lawmaker said he was adopting Divine as his son, stressing that henceforth, the student would go to school as a big man’s child.
Responding to the award of scholarship, Chimezie Divine Emeka expressed his profound gratitude to God for using the lawmaker to ensure he completes his medical studies.
He said his family has been finding it difficult picking the bills but will now heave a sigh of relief.
Constituency projects visited by the lawmaker included the classroom block and WAEC Hall at Mercy Girls High School, Umuezeala Owere, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area.
He also visited Amakohia Girls Secondary School, Ihitte-Uboma; Community Secondary School, Ekeala, Amuzi, Ikenanzizi, Obowo; Okenalogho Secondary Technical School where he built six-classroom blocks and 750-seater WAEC halls each.
The Principal of Mercy Girls High School, Umuezeala Owere Rev. Father Paul Nwagwu, expressed gratitude to Chike for coming to the aid of the 56-year-old school.
He disclosed that he wrote to Chike in 2018 to help them with classroom block and WAEC Hall, noting that he was surprised that the lawmaker responded without any reminders.
