Argentina will be meeting Brazil in the Copa America 2020 final which will witness the presence of two great players — Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and PSG and former Barcelona player, Neymar — head-to-head to see who secures the victory.
In the first semi final of the competition, Brazil sent Peru packing with a lone goal victory while Argentina defeated Columbia 3-2 on penalties after the game tied at one goal apiece at full time.
Messi is the prime figure for Argentina while Neymar is the playmaker for Brazil.
According to Marca, Neymar was the first player to face the media following the 1-0 win over Peru and, after criticizing the officiating, he expressed his preferred opponent for the grand finale.
In a lost-match chat, Neymar said without any hesitation, “I want to play the final against Argentina”.
With the clash set to take place on Sunday, July 11, which marks the 29th final, Lionel Messi will be more under pressure as he has not won any major trophy in his international career as a footballer at 34.
Lionel Messi has played three different Copa America finals without winning any. Argentina have gotten to the finals four times without lifting the trophy.
The last time the two giant sides met was two years ago at the Copa America semi-finals with Neymar missing in action due to injury.
The host, Brazil will be looking forward to claiming their 10th Copa America title on Sunday with the hope of retaining and winning back-to-back.
The third place play-off between Peru and Colombia will hold on Saturday.
