Belgium striker, Romelu Lukaku, who scored his first goal after returning to his former club Chelsea, was named Man of the Match in the Arsenal vs Chelsea Match day 2 clash, with the Blues running away with a 2- 0 win at the Emirates Stadium.
It will be recalled that the current Champions League defending champions, Chelsea have been in search for a top striker after the departure of Oliver Giroud to AC Milan and Tammy Abraham to Jose Mourinho’s side, AS Roma with a bid to bring the likes of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich as potential replacement for the duo.
Attempts to sign Haaland and Lewandowski could not scale through which made Chelsea approach Inter for Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku, who originally joined Chelsea in 2011 returned to his former club from Inter Milan on August 12, in a record fee of €97.5 million, proving himself to be the top forward man the club has been searching for, in yesterday’s fixture against Arsenal.
The Belgium international who could not record a single goal during his stay at Chelsea from 2011-2014 broke the jinx just 15 minutes into the game to announce his arrival to the English premier league as a threat for defenders to beware of.
Romelu Lukaku’s first goal for Chelsea ended the four consecutive win recorded by Arsenal in their last previous meetings.

Lukaku was denied the opportunity of scoring a brace or even a hat-trick after a wonderful save from the Gunners goalkeeper, Bernd Leno in a powerful header and some close follow-up tackles by Arsenal defense line.
With reference to Lukaku’s display yesterday based on statistics, he has been referred to as an attacking threat.
Chelsea are now on top of the Premier League table with six points as they prepare to take on Liverpool over the weekend on Saturday while Arsenal are 19th on the log.
