A middle aged man in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, has escaped death by the whiskers after his black Lexus SUV was hit by a trailer carrying bags of cement.
The incident occured when the vehicle owner attempted to overtake the trailer, articulated truck but got stuck because of the tight space between the concrete walkway and the heavy-duty truck.
The passenger end of the SUV, including the side mirror was badly damaged by the trailer, but the lone occupant of the car escaped unhurt.
As at the time of this report, the incident caused a major gridlock in that part of the state capital as both drivers engaged in war of words, while other motorists watched with anger of the delayed time on the road.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the trailer driver, having sighted the SUV via his side mirror should have made way.
He said it was an avoidable situation but “the wickedness” of the trailer driver led to the unfortunate accident, which has led to the closure of the road for others.
