,31-year-old DJ Ferguson who is in critical need of a heart transplant has been refused due to his unacceptance of the Covid vaccine.

According to BBC News, the US hospital, Bringham and Women’s Hospital took him off the list because, according to his father David, the COVID-19 vaccines go against his beliefs.

The hospital, claims that because of the scarcity of organs, they have to make sure that patients who would be getting a transplant will have a greater chance of survival after the surgery.

A spokesperson for the hospital reported that there was a need to look into the lifestyle and Covid vaccination of patients to ensure the best transplant results.

The immune system of a patient who has gone through the procedure is usually severely low and not taking the Covid vaccine would not give such patients the best chance of survival.

Although the hospital had other reasons the patient was denied a transplant, these were not divulged due to confidentiality.

The hospital admitted that a hundred thousand people would have to be put on the waiting list for the next five years due to the scarcity of organs.

Ferguson on his part had not accepted the vaccine because he suffered from a hereditary disease of the heart that pools blood in his lungs.

He had feared that he might have experienced cardiac inflammation which happens to be a rare side effect of the Covid vaccination.

However, US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) debunked the likeliness of having such side effects and emphasised the temporariness of such disease.

Hence, CDC endorses transplant patients to get full vaccination and boosters for the sake of their health.
