Marcus Rashford, Manchester United’s central forward, has claimed he has not been in the best of shape and he’s planning to go under the knife due to a long term issue with a shoulder injury.
During the Euro 2020, Rashford had appeared as a substitute five times throughout the season and during the finals, he had attempted the penalty shoot out whose loss gave Italy an advantage over England.
The loss which has not been well received by fans stirred racist abuse that made Rashford apologise for having disappointed people, while he asserted he was not sorry for the colour of his skin and who he was.
The 23-year-old forward player admitted he managed to see himself through the season with United and is also proud of having witnessed the finals of the Euro 2020; he said he’s optimistic about other games and would be looking forward to them after his surgery.
He had wanted to undergo surgery right after the Euro final, but due to the unavailability of the surgeon, it was postponed till late July.
Although Rashford would be back for training after five weeks of his surgery, he would have to wait an extra seven weeks before he is fully back into the games, hence, ruling him out of the first few starts of the next season until October.
Man United’s forward stated in an interview that so far he is pleased with himself, and has little time to regret not having done things differently, he also mentioned having been involved in the actualization of thirty-six goals.
Meanwhile, Prince William is under fire for having expressed his displeasure on Twitter towards open racism meted out to Black football players on the just concluded Euro finals. He felt aggrieved that black English players have to experience racist attacks just because they missed scoring.
