A member of the indigenous people of Biafra, Madiba Matata in Rivers State has accused the federal government of playing politics with the trial of the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra.

MatataMadiba in a chat with our correspondent predicted war in the nation if the federal government continues with way it is going.

He said Biafra can never be part of a country like Nigeria where everything in the country is not working.

He called on the federal government to release their leader unconditionally or face the anger of the group.

The analyst further called on the members of the IPOB not to relent in their pursuit until Biafra is gotten.

Recall that the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been brought to court by officials of the Department of State Security (DSS) for his trial.

He was brought into the courtroom amid heavy security with journalists denied access to film or take pictures of him.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel to the Kanu confirmed to journalists that his client is in court to face his trial, sending pictures of them together in the courtroom.

DSS officials had earlier set up a barricade at the entrance of the Federal High Court where the case is to be heard and they prevented reporters and officials from gaining entry, resulting in angry scenes and arguments.

This came three days after the Federal Government filed seven amended charges.

The group also has given the Federal Government conditions for dialogue.

IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, said the group would listen to the Federal Government if its leader, Nnamdi Kanu is released unconditionally.

In a statement, Powerful also said the Federal Government should set a date for the referendum of Biafra.

He insisted that Kanu committed no crime to warrant being arrested and prosecuted and maintained that the IPOB leader should not be detained while terrorists roam the streets freely.
