The Met Gala which usually takes place on the first Monday of every May had to be postponed because of the pandemic; hence, the event falling in the middle of spring has brought so many expectations for what is up for fashion month.
The event was held on the 13th of September in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where it usually takes place and the theme was meant to celebrate the Costume Institute’s latest exhibit, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.
Among celebrities that graced the fashion is Rihanna with her partner, A$AP Rocky; Rihanna wore a Balenciaga Couture and some Mariah Tash jewellery while the rapper rocked ERL, with the outfits mostly looking like they were draped around them.
There is also a theatrical queer rapper, Lil Nas X, who served everyone full golden regalia at the start before he eased himself out of it to give us the Versace armour and then finally shedding that off to reveal a sequined bodysuit that helped him flaunt his curves.
Kim Kardashian has not let down on her expression of unconventional fashion either as she confidently sported a black suit that shrouded her entire body including her face except her long ponytail; the bodysuit had two trains that extended from her back to the floor.

There was Grimes in her Dune inspired look and a sword to accessorise the look; while Serena Williams was clad in a Gucci bodysuit shrouded in a feathery cape that reached the floor.
So many celebrities flaunted their unique outfits at the Met Gala proving that they were not backing down on unconventional fashion even with the pandemic.
Nicki Minaj could not make it to the Met however because she had not got a covid jab which is a requirement for entry and had recently tweeted to discourage people from getting vaccinated because of an alleged side effect it gave a cousin of her friend.
Her tweet has been responded to with severe criticism.
