The Traditional Ruler of Mgboko Amaise Autonomous Community, His Eminence, Eze Eberechi Dick has called on the people of Obingwa Local Government Area, to continue in their support for the governor of the state, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Speaking at the stakeholders meeting held at the palace of the former chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, Eze Eberechi Dick, in Mgboko Ancient Kingdom, said the various political office holders from the area have been doing well in giving their support to the Governor, urging them not to relent.
In his response, the Honourable member representing, Obingwa West State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Thomas Nkoro, used the event to resurrect the call for traditional rulers to be assigned a permanent role in the country that would be recognized.
Speaking further at the meeting, the Lawmaker said it is high time traditional rulers in Nigeria were given a pride of place in the country by allocating a constitutional function that would have a constitutional remuneration attached to it, for the enhancement of the welfare of traditional rulers across the nation.

According to him, traditional rulers are not just custodian of the people’s culture but the chief security officers at the grassroot level, noting that the duties of these Royal fathers are quite challenging and as such, their welfare should be paramount.
“The stipend given to traditional rulers is not enough to take care of Royal fathers and their families. Their job should be constitutionalised for a better welfare package”.
He said the state House of Assembly is working assiduously towards seeking ways of improving the welfare package of traditional rulers.
Responding on one of the agenda of the meeting, Hon Nkoro said Mgboko is a large community that can attract any developmental project from government.
“With our number, we can attract any project from government to our community as well as attract any elective position, even appointed positions in government.
“All we need is to come together and be united, work in synergy and fight for a common goal”.
The House member who was a one time General Manager of Abia Line Network, commended the governor, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu over the numerous achievements recorded in the state especially in Aba, stating that the Abia House of Assembly would continue to work harmoniously with the Executive arm of government for optimal performance of both arms of government for the good of the state.
Also, the General Manager of Abia State Passengers Integrated Manifest and Safety Scheme (APIMSS), Ezinwa Nwabiri, described Mgboko as a great community, stating that Mgboko community would move forward if they can come together as a body to determine their fate politically and other wise.
He disclosed that his organisation, ASPIMSS, has been doing very well especially this yuletide season to ensure salaries were paid promptly and other packages distributed to staff.
According to him, the APIMSS within the season, organised seminars for mainly drivers to maintain carefulness while driving all through the festive season.
The Traditional Prime Minister of Umuomenyi, Chief Friday Nwangwa eulogized the sterling qualities of the state Governor, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu, in moving the state forward.
According to Nwangwa, the governor has performed above his predecessors, especially in the area of pushing the campaign for Made In Aba goods which has succeeded in putting Abia in the world map.
He said people no longer make goods in Aba and code it ‘Made in USA’, simply because of the contributions of the governor.
Nwangwa further lamented the nonchalant attitude of some political office holders of the community who do not care for the welfare of other members of the community at the grassroot.
He said that has been impeding the unity of the community, stating that until Mgboko begins to pursue unity, love and peace, it cannot speak in one voice.
