As part of its preparation to the host the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), the West-African country Cote d’Ivoire has engaged renowned FIFA licensed agent and stadium construction expert, Mr. Ebi Egbe, the CEO of Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Nigeria Limited to establish adequate playing surfaces for athletes and footballers in particular.
This was disclosed in a report by Cote d’Ivoire’s biggest national newspaper, ACTU SPORTS and an indigenous online sports news platform, SportsIvoire.ci as measures have been put in place by the Ivorian authorities who are planning the repair of certain lawns including that of the Olympic stadium of Ebimpé below the sculpture of the enclosure.
“The lawn of the Independence stadium of Bakau should undergo a makeover in the coming weeks. Thanks to an African expertise, which proposes to provide Africa with a playing surface at the level of those responsible for CAF, which recently suspended 23 stadiums on the continent that did not meet the required standard”, the Ivorian authority said.
It could be recalled that Cote d’Ivoire had been scheduled to host the 2021 AFCON tournament, but that was changed after CAF asked Cameroon to host that instead.
According to Goal, the Federation of Ivorian Football (FIF) accepted the 2023 hosting rights after CAF president Ahmad Ahmad met Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara.
In a related development, the Gambia Football authority had agreed to repatriate the boss of Monimichelle, the company specializing in lawn breaks for athletes as well as playing surfaces for footballers.
The third vice-president of the Gambian Football Federation (GFF), Mr. Langtombong Tamba who came to Aba in Nigeria in April for the Enyimba-Orlando Pirates meeting, was under the spell of the lawn which hosted the match counting for the CAF Confederation Cup which was constructed by Monimichelle, the company of Mr. Ebi Egbe.
“This lawn is world-class… I am impressed and will invite the contractor who did the work ahead to the Gambia. I want to see this kind of work in my country. We want to have good pitches like this in all our regions and I think Monimichelle should come and help us”, Tamba said.
Moreover, Mr. Ebi Egbe will be in Abidjan very soon to receive a distinction from an organization of General Secretaries of Football Clubs in Côte d’Ivoire.
