The Delta police Command have reportedly arrested a mortuary attendant in Oghara, Delta State.
According to reports the arrest followed the missing corpse of a 58-year-old woman, Patience Amughoro.
Late Mrs. Amughoro had died late last year after a brief illness. Her body was deposited at a morgue managed by a private hospital at Oghara.
It was gathered that, the family had planned to give her a befitting burial on February 20. However the family of the deceased were stunned when they arrived the morgue only to find the body missing.
A source reported that suspected ritualists whisked her body away into Oblivion after allegedly “settled” the mortuary attendant.
The family members were said to have grown suspicious when the mortuary attendant presented another body instead of hers. The family immediately reported the matter to the police and the mortuary attendant was arrested.
According to Aljazirah news, The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Oghara Police Division, CSP Hassan Isah, had confirmed the arrest while stating that, the family members of the deceased made a formal report to the station, adding that the matter was referred to the detectives unit who swung into action to arrest the mortuary attendant. The DPO added that the suspect on further interrogation, confessed to the crime and admitted selling the corpse to ritualists for money making business.
