The appointment of Ebunolu Oludele Ayeni as the new Managing Director of International Energy Insurance Plc has been approved by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Following the resignation of former Managing Director Peter Irene, International Energy Insurance Plc named Ebunolu Ayeni, its Chief Operating Officer, as acting Managing Director in January.
The insurance company stated that the appointment, which took effect on July 23, 2021, was approved by NAICOM.
On Wednesday, Reginald Reubens, Head of Legal & Compliance at International Energy Insurance Plc, stated
“International Energy Insurance Plc wishes to notify Nigerian Exchange Limited, the Company’s shareholders and the investing public that the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has approved the appointment of Ebunolu Oludele Ayeni as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of International Energy Insurance Plc with effect from July 23, 2021″.
Ayeni has worked in the industry for over 30 years. With over thirty-three (33) years of experience as a Chartered Insurer, Risk Analyst, Administrator and Management Consultant in the Insurance Industry, Consulting and Academics, Ayeni is an accomplished professional.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Insurance from the University of Lagos, an MBA in Marketing from Ladoke Akintola University, and an M.sc in Strategic Management from Enugu State University. A true professional, Ayeni is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, a Fellow of the Institute of Loans and Risk Management in Nigeria, and an Associate Member of the Nigeria Council of Registered Brokers.
Ebun joined NEM Insurance PLC as Head of Underwriting in 1996 and then moved to Lion of Africa Insurance in 1999 as Manager, Client Services & Business Development. In 2001, fate, on the other hand, brought him back to NEM Insurance PLC as the company’s Head of Marketing & Business Development.
Before he departed from Oasis Insurance in 2010, he was Deputy General Manager, Technical Services Compliance Officer and Head of Marketing at Oasis Insurance PLC, Lagos. Ebun finished his insurance career by spending three years at the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIN), the accrediting body for all Nigerian insurers, from 2013 to 2018.
Always eager to share his knowledge, he taught part-time at the University of Nigeria (UNN), the Lagos Outreach Program from 2005 to 2010, and the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) from 2010 to 2012.
Ebun was a Director of Stewardship & Trust Services Ogba District of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lagos; a member of the Board of Governors of Ipoti Community Secondary School in Ipoti-Ekiti from 1989 to 1996; and a chief examiner for Risk Regulation & Capital Adequacy and Personal Insurance Services of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lagos.
