This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Friday Ekerete and obtained by our correspondent in Uyo on Friday.

The statement noted that Mafara will replace Abidemi Majekodunmi who has since been redeployed to NSCDC headquarters in Abuja.

Part of the statement read, “Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has received a new state commandant. He is CC Suleman Ibrahim Mafara.

“He took over the reins of the command from Comdt Abidemi Makekodunmi who has been redeployed to NSCDC National headquarters, Abuja.

“The official handover of the command took place on Wednesday, July 6 at the state command headquarters, Uyo.

“While addressing officers and men of the command, Mafara emphasized that he places premium on productivity and performance, stressing that they are the yardsticks with which he relates with subordinates.

“A native of Talata Mafara in Zamfara State, Mafara is a Registered Nurse and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Public Administration both from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto. He also holds a PhD in Naturopathic medicine.
