Nigerian comedy group, Ikorodu Boys popular for recreating and mimicking multimillion-dollar videos and Hollywood action movie trailers has bagged their first award from movie company, Netflix.
The group excitedly took to their official Instagram page to flaunt their first award, with a plague which had the inscription ‘The Force of Virality’.
The movie company which has dominated the world with its wide reach and accessible services, In a statement made available to The Punch, Netflix revealed that its campaign is targeted at fans of the company who do not only love watching but recreating scenes from Netflix movies.
“Netflix’s wide reach has woken up a new generation of global film fans, allowing them to discover more diverse perspectives, see themselves reflected, and inspiring new forms of movie-love.
“Once a year, the Oscars pierce the culture and put movies on our collective minds, and this year, we are putting the spotlight on the Ikorodu Bois to remind movie fans that fans are the most important part of the movies.
Recall that the group of young comedians had been nominated for the 2021 edition of the renowned Nickelodeon kids choice award.
They had revealed this through their social media handles that they were nominated in the favourite African social media star category of the awards billed.
The Ikorodu Bois latest recognition came in the wake of the massive exposure they received in 2020 from repost to recommendations from Hollywood stars. Recall they had gotten an invitation to the forthcoming premiere of Netflix’s ‘Extraction 2’ by the Russo Brothers after their ‘Extraction’ trailer remake went viral.
