A former Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tonye Isenah has disclosed how the state governor, Sen. Douye Diri, made Kingdom Kroseide win the sixth season of the Nigerian Idol show.
Kingdom on Sunday, July 11, emerged winner after defeating his fellow finalist, Francis Atela and was presented with a cash prize of N30 million, a brand new SUV, 6 track EP recording deal, 3 music videos, an all-expense-paid trip to Seychelles and a weekend getaway to Dubai for two.
Other gifts include a wide range of Tecno products, Bigi branded refrigerator plus 1 year of Bigi drinks, and a DSTV explora fully installed with premium subscription for 12 months.
Isenah, who is known as a major promoter and supporter of entertainment and entertainers in the state, said having discovered the talent of Kingdom and his steady rise in the competition, he decided to approach the governor for assistance.
He said after convincing the governor, who is also a lover of upcoming entertainers, he accepted to throw his weight of support to ensure that Kingdom returns with the top prize money and other goodies.
According to him, Diri insisted that his support should remain silent and at the background which was obliged until the Bayelsa born Kingdom emerged winner.
He wrote on his verified Facebook page: “Thank you, Your Excellency. I ran to you on Kingdom and said not only is he a Bayelsan, but he is good so he needs our support. You supported, though you wanted it quiet and we did use it. The boy has won, and we are grateful. God bless you, sir”.
The post generated a lot of reactions as many people commended Gov. Diri for not turning down the request to help Kingdom, noting that he has shown again that he is interested in the growth of the state’s entertainment industry.
Some Bayelsans submitted that the victory of Kingdom was a plus to the Prosperity Administration, considering the image the state government has been trying to project through entertainment and urged them to continue in that direction.
Nigerdeltaconnect had exclusively reported a fortnight ago that Isenah, who currently represents Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 1 in the state assembly was leading influential people in the state to massively deliver the required votes for Kingdom, every week.
He also took to his social media accounts to campaign seriously for the 24-year-old level 200 Computer Science student of the Federal University Otuoke in Bayelsa State.
It will be recalled that Isenah has played similar roles in the past, the most recent was for the duo of Nengi and Trickytee who though did not emerge winners but had a good outing in the last edition of Big Brother Naija.
