He said he was rushing to the hospital to know the child’s health condition.

Eke’s daughter, Blessing expressed her profound gratitude to God for saving their lives.

She said they were alerted by shouts by neighbours when the building started caving in.

Meanwhile, the Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA has condoned off the site of the collapsed building.

Speaking at site of the collapsed building, the OCDA General Manager, Francis Chukwu confirmed the rescue of the nine victims who were trapped in the collapsed building

Chukwu, an engineer pointed out that in-depth investigation will be carried out to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the building collapse.

The OCDA helmsman warned developers against the use of substandard materials in building activities.

He directed the owner of the collapsed building to report to the agency alongside his site engineer with immediate effect.

Chukwu also inspected other buildings around the area and directed their owners to report to the agency for recertification.

According to him, the vibration of the collapsed building could pose danger to the existing buildings hence the urgent need for the buildings to be recertified.
