The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited (NLNG) has won the 2020 “Gas Company of the Year” award for its outstanding contributions to the gas industry in Nigeria.
General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development of NLNG, Mrs Eyono Fatayi-Williams, while virtually receiving the award said the award is coming shortly after the World Liquefied Natural Gas Summit, where NLNG was adjudged to be one of the organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the gas industry globally.
According to her, “gas is undoubtedly the future, it is cleaner, cheaper, more abundant, and the smartest partner to renewables for sustainable development”, adding that the company’s success story is a testament to what is possible in this decade of gas.
She urged government to diversify its economy from oil, noting that NLNG’s Train 7 would provide about $12 billion in foreign direct investment to Nigeria and over 12,000 jobs at the peak of construction.
She disclosed that the company’s ambition is to ramp up to Trains 10 and more with the support of shareholders and the Federal Government.
Fatai-Williams said that “the transformative effect of the increased use of our nation’s abundant gas reserves on its economy will be wholly positive and thoroughly beneficial”.
The award was won at the Nigeria Gas Association Biennial International Conference and Awards Events.
