Nnamdi Kanu, the brain behind the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has sent threats to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, over the massacre of Igbo youths at Obigbo, in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state during the #ENDSARS protests that happened in October, 2020.

According to reports, the governor of the state sent security agencies to restore order at venue where the protest was allegedly hijacked by hoodlums who invaded the settlement of Igbo traders and caused chaos in the area. It was gathered that a lot of Igbo youth at the arrival of the security team with Kanu insisted that was a systemic massacre of IPOB members.

It was gathered that no fewer than 60 women were arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) outside those who lost their lives and were detained for more than five months.

The women on their release claimed they were raped and sexually abused by soldiers and other security officers while in detention.

According to Ripples Nigeria, A civil rights group, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, on Tuesday ran an exclusive story on the matter titled: “How Nigerian Soldiers Routinely Raped, Tortured Us In Abuja Barracks — Women Arrested In Obigbo, Rivers,” detailing the experience of two of the freed women in the hands of DSS officials.
