Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has deployed 1200 tactical personnel drawn from different special squads to beef up security during the sallah celebrations in the state.
While addressing the personnel at the Command HQ in Akure on Friday, the Command 2IC, DCC Amusa Rabiu, said the people have very great expectations from the NSCDC, hence, it can not afford to betray the trust.
He said: “The command has made provision for plain cloth intelligence experts amongst others who will mount volatile and flash points areas, worship centres, event centres and other critical national assets and Infrastructure in the state.
“The personnel were drawn from, the Rapid Response Squad, Counter Terrorism squad, Disaster Management team, Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear and Energy Unit (CBRNE)”.
Amusa charged the officers to be professional in the discharge of their duties and to also work harmoniously with other sister agencies towards ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of the law abiding citizens of the Sunshine State.
“The public has very great expectations from the NSCDC and we can not afford to betray their trust. So, let’s collaborate with the traditional and religious institutions and other relevant sister agencies in the fight against all forms of criminality”.
He had assured residents of the state of the Corps readiness to provide adequate security of lives and property during the celebrations.
“I also wish the good people of Ondo State a happy Eidel Fitr celebration and in celebrating, we should be modest and make our personal Security a priority”, Amusa admonished.
The Corps had last week paraded a fraudster who specialises in generating fake debit alert for goods purchased. The suspect, Olawale Mayowa, male, 24years old was arrested in Osogbo, Osun State on Wednesday 14th April, 2022.
The said suspect generated a fake alert of the sum of Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira (N310,000.00) in two tranches of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000.00) and Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) for a laptop he ordered from an Akure based computer trader.
While parading the suspect, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASCI Daniel Aidamenbor said the suspect was tracked and arrested at Osogbo by the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Command.
He said the suspect has contravene the law and will be charged to court for Obtaining under false pretense at the conclusion of our investigation.
He charged the general public to be conscious of who they transact business with and should also take their time to verify all monetary transactions.
