Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Cross River State have reportedly nabbed one Ogbonnia Paul Chukwudi, for impersonation, in Calabar.
It was gathered that luck ran out of the fake 28-year-old impostor, who has been parading himself as a soldier for over four years, when the operatives arrested him.
According to TopNaija news, the suspect was arrested at Igoli, Ogoja and handed over to the 130 Battalion where, after preliminary investigation, handed the fake officer to the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General M.A Abdullahi, who was represented by Major SN Ikpeme handed over the fake soldier to the Police for prosecution on Wednesday, March 10.
Speaking at the 13 Brigade Headquarters, during the handover to the police for prosecution, Brigadier General M.A Abdullahi, said the suspect has been impersonating for the past four years.

The Brigade Commander, said several items were recovered from the impersonator.
According to him, “In the course of investigation, it was revealed that the suspect has been presenting himself as a serving soldier for four years. Items recovered from his residence at 7, Stadium Road, Igoli, Ogoja includes a camouflage T-shirt, some of his pictures on military uniform, fake Military ID card, pre-screening certificate of the Nigerian Army among others”, he said.
Speaking further, he noted that the suspect and the exhibits have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
He also requested for update of the outcome of its investigation from the police so as to update the Brigade’s crime record.
Meanwhile, the suspect, who expressed regrets over his action, said “the uniform belongs to his dad and his decision to use them is the highest mistake he has ever made”
