NUJ Commends Diri on Giant Strides in Infrastructural Development

The Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has lauded the Senator Douye Diri-led Prosperity Administration for inaugurating several people-oriented projects in the state.

The commendation is contained in congratulatory message, signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Samuel Numonengi and Secretary, Comrade Ogio Ipigansi, on the occasion of the administration’s second year anniversary celebration.

The congratulatory message, which particularly singled out the Media Complex, which was named after the late media icon, Ernest Ikoli, further said “within two years of the Prosperity Government in the state, Diri has demonstrated that indeed his government is visionary and people oriented”.

The statement expressed optimism that more laudable projects would be commissioned before the end of the administration.

The Union also expressed hope that soon promises by the governor to the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists would be fulfilled.

Some of the projects already inaugurated include the 4.5km Igbedi Road in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, the Okarki–AIT stretch of the Outer Ring Road and lecture halls and a pathology laboratory at the Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa.

Other projects yet to be inaugurated include the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS) Complex within the precinct of the State Secretariat, Ovom, the Nembe Unity Bridge in Nembe, Elebele bridge in Ogbia Local Government Area and the bridge linking New Yenagoa City while the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo is expected to perform the ground breaking ceremony of the Angiama bridge, that will take the Central Senatorial District road to Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
