The Federal Government is exploring a new technology to prevent explosions in facilities that convey, transport or store crude oil and petroleum products in the country.
Director-General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Mr Idris Musa, disclosed this at an explo-control technology virtual demonstration carried out by Qcuboyds Limited.
While speaking at the demonstration, Musa said he believed there will be an opportunity to have a much better interaction with Qcuboyds Limited and then get some samples for their Nigerian partners to come and really test the technology physically.
Me. Musa, who said the Federal Government would likely explore ways to adopt the technology, stated that the technology would forestall the negative environmental, economic and social impacts of such incidents.
On its part, the firm stated that the technology could prevent explosions in petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas facilities, adding that the new technology has the capacity to halt explosions in oil tanks and petroleum products distribution tankers.
