The Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has advised a lobby group within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, to be wary of sentiments and corruption in their ongoing search for a credible governorship candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The king gave the advise while hosting members of the lobby group, led by its national chairman, Ighoyota Amori, at the royal palace in Warri.
He expressed joy at the group’s togetherness and prayed that when the time comes, they will match that unity with commitment.
The visiting delegation comprised, among others, DC-23 leaders and members, including the Deputy National Chairman, Olorogun Solomon Ighrakpata; National Secretary, Dr. Chris Oharisi; Assistant National Organising Secretary, Christian Onogba; and Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Sunday Apah.
Ogiame Atuwatse III told the visitors that his heartfelt prayer was for God to guide the group as they scout for a candidate for the governorship contest in 2023.
“I pray for all of you that will participate in that process to ensure that it produces the best, because Delta State deserves the best”.
According to Ogaime Atuwatse III;
It is our prayer that when that decision time comes, you will close your eyes against any sentiment that will corrupt that process and you will all speak with one voice.
I am highly impressed with your show of unity today and I pray that when the time comes, you will match that show of unity with more commitment, if not surpass it.
Ogaime Atuwatse III also said the Itsekiris will also convene as a nation and come up with its collective decision and resolution to complement and contribute to the development of Delta State.
However, the DC-23 lobby group’s chairman, Amori, had earlier stated the group’s goals, adding that its nature and position were similar to the G-3 of the Delta South Senatorial District, which was founded to oversee the election of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the state’s immediate past governor.
