The Ondo State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC says it has deployed a total number of 1,857 Personnel to provide adequate security before, during and after the Eid Kabir Celebration.
The command also expressed the need for all and sundry to imbibe the culture of self-defense and not relying solely on security personnel.
The State commandant of NSCDC, Hammed Abodunrin stated this in Akure, the Ondo state capital. According to him, security is sacrosanct and must be taken seriously.
Abodunrin, who is a seasoned Journalist, pledged to organise training on security alertness to Journalists in the state particularly members of the NUJ Correspondents chapel in the state to equip them with the knowledge of securing themselves.
Abodunrin said, “The need to annex all resources both human and materials for Security beef-up before, during and after the festive period cannot be undermined, recent challenges however should not make the public panic.”
He said residents should collaborate with all Security Agencies by providing credible information that would assist to nip in the bud all forms of criminalities in the state.
The NSCDC boss pointed out that Officers and men deployed were drawn from the Anti-vandal Squad, Counter Terrorist Unit, Intelligence and Investigation Department, Agro Rangers Squad, Anti-human Trafficking illegal Migration and Gender Unit among others.
He reiterated that the Command would relentlessly continue to pursue the Corps Mandate by Safeguarding all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, Disaster Management by conducting search and rescuing victims in the face of emergency.
He added that the personnel would proactive information to the public before crisis erupts, Intelligence Gathering, Training and Supervision of Private Guard Companies, fighting Vandals who tamper with Oil Pipeline, Telecommunication gadgets and Electrical/Power Installations amongst others.
Abodunrin affirmed that Officers and men have been deployed to Eid Prayer Centers, Mosques, Recreational Centers, Motor parks, Churches and other public arena.
