The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ondo command, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya has bagged a Distinguished Security Officer and Excellence in Information Management by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ondo State.
The epoc making event which draws dignitaries including the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, ably represented by his Deputy, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, two-term member of the House of Representative, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, royal fathers, politicians, educationists, captain of industries and professionals from all walks of life was held at Bliss World Hotel, Ijapo, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
It would be recalled that Funmilayo replaces Tee-leo Ikoro as the PPRO after (Ikoro) bows out of active service from the Nigeria Police Force on the 29th of July, 2021.
While presenting the award to Funmilayo, the NUJ Chairman in Ondo State, Comrade Adetona Aderoboye said the new police image maker has distinguish herself as the first female police public relations officer in the Ondo State police command.
According to the the NUJ Chairman, the PPRO since assumption into office has exhibited a deliberate, planned and sustained efforts to ensure a mutual relationship between the police and the general public, while stressing that it is a well deserved award.
While responding, the awardee thanked the NUJ, particularly, the Correspondent chapel for counting on her, while stressing that the award will definitely spur her to do more.
Meanwhile, DSP Odunlami Funmilayo, is a graduate of English from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State. She is also a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, (Mnipr).
She has served in various capacities as an Administrative Officer, Investigator among others. She was the Zonal PPRO for Zone 17 before she became the Ondo State Police command PPRO.
