At least one passenger is feared dead as 40-Feet container squashes two cars on Otedola bridge on Sunday 18 July.
An accident which has been reported on sunday as seen on Instablog9ja have left one person dead while the other person severely wounded as a 40-feet container trailer squashed two cars on the Otedola bridge in Lagos state.
Mr Nosa Okunbor who is the Head of Public Affairs, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), attested that the corpse of the casualty was taken by the family after the incident; and the two cars registration number are JJJ 28 FR and BDG 597 CY respectively.
Nosa further said that the wounded driver of the container- laden truck that squashed the two cars who is yet to be identified was carried to the trauma center close to the FRSC office by old Lagos/ Ibadan Toll gate.
Many Nigerians have shown their concerns and worries about the bridge on the comment section recounting the high level of accidents and lives lost on that same bridge in time past state that government should come to the aide of the people to know what they can do to safe guard the lives of the masses who make use of the road everyday of their lives. Another commenter said he remember the fire incident that took the lives of 54 casualties on June 28 to 2 July 2018 and others said if there are no regulatory bodies that can ensure if the containers are road worthy before allowing them to operate, then more lives will be lost.
The bridge is well known for accident occurrences and is located between Secretariat bus stop and Berger bus stop, which links vehicular movement in and out of Lagos state.
