One person have been confirmed dead during the robbery operation at first generation bank, the United Bank for Africa (UBA) in Issele-Uku the headquarters of Aniocha North LGA of Delta State.
Recall that, Nigerdeltaconnect had earlier reported the robbery incident that occurred on Tuesday, March 30, it was gathered that robbery operation lasted for over an hour, the robbers were said to have been shooting sporadically.
In the process of the shooting spree, a trader, identified as an indigene of Issele-Uku from Ogbeofu village was shot dead while many others sustained bullet wounds.
Eye witness told Daily Times that, the robbers had stationed their gang members at strategic positions in the town, while other of their members robbed the bank unhindered.
It was gathered that customers were held hostage inside the bank for almost an hour, while other gang members outside were raining bullets at random.
However, throughout the almost one-hour operation, the DPO and officers from the Issele-Uku Division of the Nigeria Police were nowhere to be found. Source says the armed robbers had earlier gone to the police station in search for the DPO, but he had fled the scene alongside his men.
According to Daily Times, eyewitnesses spoke to query the usefulness of the “Operation Delta Hawk”, claiming that calls were put through to them but they never responded until the robbery operation was successfully carried out.
Meanwhile, the State Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe has confirmed the robbery incident adding that he is in contact with the Division for quick response.
