The Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, has yesterday, Thursday, withdrawn from the Osun State Governorship election scheduled to take place this Saturday, July 16, 2022.
In a statement endorsed by the National Secretary of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Alli Babatunde, the party said its decision to pull out of the Osun State Governorship election, less than forty eight, 48 hours to the election was due to the inactivity of the governorship candidate, Mr Ayowole Olubusuyi Adedeji.
According to the statement, the National Executive Committee, NEC, of Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, has noted with great concern and disappointment, the negative effects of obvious inactivity of Mr Ayowole Olubusuyi Adedeji, who is the governorship candidate of the party in Osun State, on the various party structures in Osun State and at the National level respectively.
The PRP National Secretary, Babatunde Alli, further stated that his party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, having therefore considered all the options has directed the withdrawal of the party from the Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, July 16, 2022.
He emphasized that his party blamed its decision on its governorship candidate in the State, Mr Ayowole Olubusuyi Adedeji and that the leadership of the party has also constituted a five-man disciplinary committee to investigate Ayowole Adedeji.
Meanwhile the party has urged its supporters in Osun State to concentrate on the project of party building towards electoral victories in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections.
The party, according to the statement, is completely dissociating itself from the Governorship Election holding on Saturday, July 16, 2022 in Osun State.
